Simon de Vlieger, c. 1627
Simon de Vlieger painted a small sprit-rigged yacht of the Admiralty of Zeeland in calm, shallow coastal water, around 1627. She carries at least six guns, and her figurehead of a young man on a prancing horse suggests her name may be the Jong Prins te Paard. The painting is in Royal Museums Greenwich.
