Berenice Abbott, 1936
Berenice Abbott photographed the ship Theoline at Pier 11 on the East River on April 9, 1936. She looked forward from the stern across rigging and deck gear toward the towers of lower Manhattan, while men lined the pier to watch. It is one of her Changing New York photographs at the New York Public Library.
