Hippolyte Blancard, 1887–1889
Hippolyte Blancard photographed the Eiffel Tower from across the Seine as its iron frame rose past the second platform. The platinum print shows the tower standing over the river and the quays during construction for the Exposition Universelle of 1889. It is in the Musée Carnavalet in Paris.
