Hippolyte Blancard, 1887–1889
Hippolyte Blancard photographed the Eiffel Tower after its four great iron legs had been joined at the first platform, with work pushing upward. Crowds and buildings of the coming 1889 Exposition Universelle gather at its base. The print is in the Musée Carnavalet in Paris.
