Carol M. Highsmith, 1980–2006
Carol M. Highsmith photographed the stainless-steel crown of the Chrysler Building against a deep blue sky. The tower, finished in 1930, is one of the great landmarks of Art Deco architecture. Highsmith gave her archive to the Library of Congress for public use.
