Hans Gude, 1854
Morning light spreads across a wide Norwegian mountain plateau as the sun comes up over the far ridges. Hans Gude (1824–1903) was Norway's leading landscape painter of his generation and taught for decades in Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe and Berlin. The 1854 canvas belongs to the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo.
