Hubble and James Webb telescope prints

The Hubble Space Telescope went up aboard the shuttle Discovery in April 1990. After astronauts corrected its flawed mirror on the first servicing mission in December 1993, it began sending back the pictures most people think of when they think of deep space. The James Webb Space Telescope launched on Christmas Day 2021 and sees in infrared, through the dust that hides young stars from Hubble.

Both versions of the Pillars of Creation are here, Hubble's from 2014 and Webb's from 2022, with Hubble's Ultra Deep Field, the Orion Nebula and the Sombrero and Whirlpool galaxies. From Webb there are Stephan's Quintet and the Southern Ring Nebula, both among its first images in July 2022, and the Tarantula Nebula. Photographs of Hubble itself, taken by shuttle crews, close the set.
