Lake Albano
Thomas Jones, 1777
The Welsh painter Thomas Jones painted Lake Albano in the hills south of Rome in 1777. The lake fills an ancient volcanic crater, and the papal summer residence of Castel Gandolfo stands on its rim. Jones spent seven years in Italy.
