Lake Albano
George Lambert, c. 1760
George Lambert painted Lake Albano around 1760. Lambert was one of the founders of the English landscape school and never travelled to Italy himself, painting the scene in the manner of Claude Lorrain and Gaspard Dughet. The lake lies in the Alban Hills south of Rome.
