Ivan Shishkin, 1889
Ivan Shishkin painted morning mist lifting in a pine forest in 1889, with a mother bear and her cubs on a fallen tree; the bears were painted by his colleague Konstantin Savitsky. Pavel Tretyakov bought the canvas from Shishkin the same year, and it is in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
