London paintings and photographs, framed

Monet painted the Houses of Parliament from St Thomas' Hospital across the Thames, and this sunset version dates from 1903. Westminster Abbey and Bridge appear in views by Joseph Farington, William Daniell and John Varley from about 1790 to 1830, with an interior of the Abbey.

St Paul's Cathedral is painted by Canaletto (about 1754), by William Anderson from London Bridge and in Antonio Joli's capriccio with old London Bridge. Tower Bridge, opened in 1894, is shown open and closed in photochrom prints of the 1890s, and yachts race on the Thames in William Havell's painting.

Alfred de Bréanski's Windsor Castle at sunset and Herbert Mason's St Paul's Survives, the dome standing in the smoke of the Blitz on 29 December 1940, complete the set. Each is printed at its true shape, nothing cropped or stretched, and arrives framed and ready to hang.

13 works in this collection, dated 1720 to 1940. Sources include Yale Center for British Art, Daily Mail, and Library of Congress.
