Water Lilies
Claude Monet, c. 1922
In his last years Monet painted the surface of his Giverny pond with no shoreline at all, only lily pads, flowers and reflected sky. These late canvases grew out of his plan for the great water lily murals now in the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris.
