The Water-Lily Pond
Claude Monet, 1899
Monet dug the water-lily pond at Giverny in the 1890s and spanned it with a Japanese-style footbridge. In 1899 he painted the bridge and pond a dozen times, letting the lilies and reflections fill the canvas. This version is in the National Gallery, London.
