A Danish Timber Bark Getting Under Way

Samuel Scott, 1736

Minis

Samuel Scott painted a Danish timber bark raising her anchors and making sail in very calm weather, in 1736. Such cat-barks were immensely strong and carried heavy cargoes such as timber. The painting is in Royal Museums Greenwich.
