Ideal View of Cologne Cathedral from the Southwest

Cathedrals

Carl Hasenpflug painted Cologne Cathedral as it would look when finished, years before the work was taken up again in 1842. Building had stopped around 1560 with only the choir and a stump of the south tower. The cathedral was finally completed in 1880, and the painting is in the Kölnisches Stadtmuseum.
