USS Iowa Fires a Full Broadside
J. Alan Elliott, 1984
USS Iowa (BB-61) fires a full broadside of her nine 16-inch and six 5-inch guns during a target exercise near Vieques Island, Puerto Rico, on July 1, 1984. Concussion effects show on the water, and the 16-inch barrels are caught in varying degrees of recoil. Photographer's Mate J. Alan Elliott took the U.S. Navy photograph.
