Vincent van Gogh, 1888
Van Gogh painted this café on the Place du Forum in Arles in September 1888, working outdoors at night. He wrote that he liked painting a night picture without any black, only blue, violet and green, with the café lit in yellow. The canvas is in the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo.
