The Creation of Adam
Michelangelo, c. 1508–1512
Michelangelo painted The Creation of Adam on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome between 1508 and 1512. God reaches out to give life to Adam, and their almost-touching fingers became one of the most copied images in art. The fresco remains in place in the Vatican.
