Luis Coto, 1859
The Mexican painter Luis Coto painted the Collegiate Church of Guadalupe in 1859. The domed basilica, Mexico's great pilgrimage shrine, rises at the foot of the Tepeyac hill above a road with travelers. Coto was a pupil of Eugenio Landesio at the Academy of San Carlos.
