The Sunflower
Gustav Klimt, 1907/08
Gustav Klimt painted The Sunflower in 1907–08, at the height of his golden period. A single tall sunflower stands among a dense bed of flowers, its leaves falling around it like a gown. Klimt painted his square-format flower and garden pictures during summers on the Attersee. The painting is in the Belvedere, Vienna.
