In the 1930s the Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project put artists to work making silkscreen posters. The See America series promoted travel inside the United States, and in the late 1930s a run of national park posters advertised the free Ranger Naturalist Service at parks like Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Zion.
Alongside those are posters for Lassen Volcanic National Park, Montana, Fort Marion in St. Augustine, Puerto Rico, Long Island's Sea Cliff, the Pueblos of the Southwest and the Lake Placid bobsled run, plus a 1927 South Shore Line railroad poster for the Indiana Dunes.
Each one is printed at its true poster shape, nothing cropped or stretched, and arrives framed and ready to hang, a good fit for a cabin, a hallway or anyone who collects park visits.
15 works in this collection, dated 1927 to 1939. Most represented: WPA Federal Art Project (6) and WPA / NPS (3). Sources include Library of Congress.
